Case Study 1 - Spring Boroughs, Northampton
In an area enclosed by terraced houses and tower blocks, with the usual social problems associated with a nearby red light district, this Urban Pocket Park has transformed a dreary, closely mown grassy area surrounded by battered benches and concrete slabs, into a valued green space.

Pergolas covered in honeysuckle and climbing roses, a wildflower meadow, a herb garden, flowerbeds, picnic tables and hedgerows provide a welcoming and peaceful space for the local community.

The site is regularly used for local cultural events and future plans include encouraging the tower block residents to cultivate window boxes on their balconies to brighten up the neighbourhood further.
