History
Originally the site was a stone pit, one of three in the village. The gravel, stone and sand taken out of the pits was used for the upkeep of the Parish roads and part of the Northampton Way (present A43). Later the site became allotments. From 1954 Mr Soans of Hannington House rented the 'Triangle' from the Parish and planted trees and woodland flowers. However in 1995 he moved from the village and the parish claimed back the land, which is now wooded with mature trees.
Management Objectives
The overall aim of the project is to utilise and develop an area of common land within the village of Hannington for the benefit of the community and as wildlife habitat. Practical objectives are to restore the woodland, create pathways through it and explain its features to visitors.
